Membership

 

Membership is open to businesses in, or affiliated with, the building industry in San Juan County, Washington. Upon application and acceptance by the local chapter, membership information will be forwarded to the state and national associations. Members receive newsletters, information on benefits, and other mailings of interest from BIAW and NAHB, as well as San Juan Builders Association.

 

BYLAWS - ARTICLE V.  MEMBERSHIP

Section 1.  Membership in this Association shall be of three classes:

  1. Builder Membership
  2. Associate Membership
  3. Supporting Membership

Section 2.  Qualifications for membership in this Association shall be as follows:

  1. Builder Membership – shall be open to any person, firm, or corporation who is licensed by the State of Washington, whose principal business is building (construction) within the territorial jurisdiction of this Association, who shall agree to abide by the provisions of these Bylaws and any amendments thereof, and shall subscribe to the foregoing Code of Ethics.
  2. Associate Membership – shall be open to any person, firm or corporation engaged in any allied trade or industry within the territorial jurisdiction of this Association.
  3. Supporting Membership – shall be open to any business or profession (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau) who does business within the jurisdiction of this Association, who applies for membership and is approved by the Board of Directors.  This class of membership will not be entitled to any voting rights.

Section 3.  Applications for membership in this Association shall be made to the HBA office and processed in the following manner:

  1. The candidate shall submit the application in writing on a form supplied by this Association containing an agreement to abide by the Bylaws and observe the Code of Ethics of this Association.
  2. Application shall be endorsed by at least one Association member in good standing and shall be accompanied by a payment sufficient to cover one years dues in advance.
  3. When enrolled as a member in this Association, applicant automatically becomes enrolled as a member of the NAHB and BIAW.
